This ridiculous telescope I built
was published in Peter Manly's
"UNUSUAL TELESCOPES"
Supernova 2011dh is the middle star in the three in a
horizontal line below and to the left of M51's central core.
All the other stars in this photo, even the dimmest, are in
our neighborhood of the Milky Way, while 2011dh resides
tens of millions of light years away, in the Whirlpool Galaxy.
Photo taken on July 1, 2011, with 14"RCX400 and SBIG
ST402ME.  8x30sec Luminance, 5x60sec Blue, 4X60 sec
Infrared, 5x60sec Visual.  Unguided.

Telescope site for more on SN2011dh
I took this
photo of Trifid
Nebula last
Summer.
